In the absence of graphic or photographic historical record, the wall is the only source of to understand the original building parts. Like the pages of a book, on the wall we can find the records of all changes that occurred during the history of the building: modifications of existing holes, new openings or enlargements of doors and windows, infill, deformation collapse or destructions due to earthquakes or war, building extensions, etc.
To train the young generations to recognize, detect, analyse and interpret these signs has been one of the major educational objectives of the Institute. The Institute has nowadays a large graphic and photographic catalogue that collects the different functional and decorative components of the medieval castle.
